Top 5 Defensive Lineman

Complied By: Green Zone Staff & Pinellas HS Media Group

We have nailed down our Top 5 deserving Defensive Lineman

names compiled by Green Zone Preps & Pinellas HS Media Group , which was based heavily on Stats and production. I also take into account how the player projects as a prospect at the next level and beyond. (Pictures provided by: Stylish Entertainment !!

Take a look at the full rankings here.

1. EDGE| Isaiah Nixon| Lakewood High School (UF Commit)

Over the last year the hottest prospect in Pinellas County would arguably be either Lucas Simmons or Lakewood DE/OLB Isaiah Nixon, a lengthy and rangy player who is now committed to the University of Florida. At 6'4, 215 pounds Nixon not only packs the size to dominate but he is surrounded by elite defensive players who allow him to not be the sole focus and to dominate one on one's constantly which he wins on a consistent basis. Lakewood has a great history of players who have played this position including current NFL player, Florida Gator and high school All American Dante Fowler but will Nixon live up to the legends of Lakewood past? We at PHMG believe he has all the tools plus more to do so!

Senior

6'4, 215 lbs

75 tkls, 24tfl, 10 sks

Offer: Committed to University Of Florida

2. DT| Taveon Wheeler| Lakewood High School

Analysis: A disruptive DL that earned All-State honors a season ago and has the quickest first step I've seen in a long time. Wheeler led the Spartans in sacks (10) and tackles for loss, and that says a lot on a defense that has several D1 prospects on it. He plays his gap assignment well uses his hands and uses keen awareness to find the ball carrier. The energy he brings elevates his squad and because of his presences the Spartans will have a stout Defense again. With one D1 Offer secured I'm sure he's in line for several more. I predict a big year for the All-State D-Lineman.

3. DT | Javon Williams| Pinellas Park High School (3Star)

As a defensive unit Pinellas Park made their mark on Pinellas with plays from former players Eric Jackson , Malachi McCalip and Garrick Ponder but at the nose of the defense was an underclassmen who DOMINATED the trenches at 6’3 ,285 lbs with high energy and elite speed at the snap. When you watch his film you notice his quickness off the ball and if you ever played line you know that this is the first step to beating your man but this is Williams trademark. How Williams wasn’t even all state honorable mention is beyond us here at Pinellas Highschool Media Group & Green Preps Zone but he is Top 15 in the county , was recently rated a 3 star player and is one of our premier defensive lineman with two more years to play. We expect an uptick in tackles this year with around the same amount of sacks (6)

Junior

6’3 285 lbs

62 TT, 6 sacks, 14 TFL

3 ⭐️

Offers: FAU, Toledo, Tennessee Tech, Louisville, Arkansas State, West Virginia, UCF, FIU

4. DT| Callahan Blair| Calvary Christian High School (3-Star)

An elite linebacker/end rising 3 star junior Blair Callahan fits the mold of another top 50 player Isaiah Nixon out of Lakewood. A few inches shorter than Nixon, Callahan provides the speed rush and containment that’s needed at that position and knows how to work they blocks so with that being said we expect a Nixon like junior season from Callahan. Just like some of the additional weapons Calvary had added this young man still has room to grow and I’m sure coaches see his frame adding additional weight for the D1 level he will one day play at. This summer we saw that he attended a handful of camps and that is key if you want to be noticed even though he obviously is on many recruiting boards

Offers: Army, Troy State, FAU

Ranked 34th Edge Rusher 2024 class

Junior

77 tkls , 4.5 sks

5. DE/OLB| Derrick Brantley| Northeast High School (2025)

A relentless pass rusher that caused havoc all last season for opposing teams. Brantley is still a young pup but what he's done has been impressive. He led the district in sacks a year ago and looks to build on a great sophomore season!

Sophomore

9.5 sacks 17 solos 40 asst 57 TT 1 Int

6'0 217 lbs
